HOUR 1

I AM Musical!

(Pre-K-9th)
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.           Fee: $45
Instructor: Dr. Eric Rasmussen

Children best learn music from experiencing and understanding differences among a variety of cultures, styles, and contexts. The purpose of this class is to expand or solidify your child's natural ability to “be” musical. Experience is best gained by doing, failing, trying, and doing. Therefore, singing, chanting (rapping), moving, dancing, performing, and playing will be emphasized. Also, because tonal, rhythm and harmonic music vocabularies are fundamental building blocks from which students gain an understanding of music, expect some short (3-5+ minutes) daily homework (sound files of patterns to imitate). The students will likely be involved in a large collaborative creative project to which the whole class will contribute. Join Dr. Eric Rasmussen,PhD Chair, Early Childhood Music Peabody Prep of Johns Hopkins Univ. for an exploratory course involving vocalizations, instruments, and music appreciation.

Each family will need to purchase directly from Dr. Eric musical files for practice amounting to $28/family.

* This is the same course offered in hour 2.
