I Shall Not Fear The Great Shakespeare
(Ages 12+)
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Fee: $25
Instructor: Joanne Durrett
Does the thought of doing Shakespeare make your kids groan, yawn, sigh dramatically, scream, just DIE? Awesome! They're the perfect candidates for six weeks of melodrama with the bard. "Frame your mind to mirth and merriment, which bars a thousand harms and lengthens life!" O'er the six week period, I will introduce Shakespeare to your kids in a way that will ensure they will love him for the rest of their lives! We will play with a play, and in the sixth week (or shortly thereafter) we will perform it for your enjoyment! If you're looking for rigorous exploration of iambic pentameter and Shakespearean rhetoric, then "I do desire we may be better strangers," for thou wilt not enjoy this class. Fun is the name of the game here. But don't blame me if your kids actually want you to add true Shakespearean Literature to their homeschool experience afterwards. What? You don't think so? Ah, but "our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt."
Homework: Kids will need to practice lines.
